About the Role

The company is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with customers to architect, build, and deploy high-scale production AI applications on its platform.

The role involves owning customer projects from initial exploration through production deployment, translating ambiguous business objectives into reliable and observable services with clearly defined quality, latency, and cost outcomes.

This position is suited to entrepreneurial engineers who want direct exposure to how modern companies adopt AI at scale and enjoy working across product development, software engineering, performance engineering, and customer-facing implementations.

The role is primarily an engineering position involving hands-on coding and software development, while also incorporating elements of product management, technical customer success, and pre-sales solution engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production software systems and product features using one or more general-purpose programming languages, with a strong preference for Python due to its relevance to machine learning projects.
• Drive customer impact by designing, implementing, and deploying solutions end-to-end, from problem framing and evaluation through production deployment and monitoring.
• Work directly with customer engineering teams throughout the customer journey, including sales, implementation, and expansion.
• Translate vague objectives into clear specifications and well-defined proof-of-concepts to rapidly deliver well-tested services and customer outcomes.
• Optimize and enhance AI and machine learning projects while contributing to the continuous improvement of the technical stack.
• Develop features and product requirements documents in collaboration with engineering and product organizations.
• Own products and customer projects from beginning to end while operating across engineering, project management, and product management responsibilities.
• Apply strong user empathy, project specification, and execution skills to deliver successful customer implementations.
• Navigate ambiguity and exercise sound judgment when evaluating technical tradeoffs and selecting the appropriate tools and approaches.
• Avoid unnecessary complexity while developing practical and scalable solutions.
• Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and a high standard of quality across engineering and customer-facing work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 2+ years of professional experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Demonstrated experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages in a production environment, with a strong preference for Python.
• Familiarity with AI/ML pipelines and the lifecycle of machine learning model development and deployment.
• Strong communication skills, particularly when explaining complex technical concepts.
• Experience building or optimizing AI and machine learning projects is highly valued.
• Ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and customer-facing responsibilities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to turn ambiguous requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Ability to take ownership of projects and deliver production-ready systems with a focus on reliability, performance, and measurable outcomes.
