Company Overview

A technology and cybersecurity company focused on helping development and security teams manage open-source software and reduce software supply chain risks. The organization provides tools that help businesses identify, audit, and manage open-source dependencies while improving software security and development efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Scale the engineering organization from approximately 40 to 80+ employees while maintaining engineering velocity, code quality, and organizational culture.
  • Lead both engineering operations and technical strategy, ensuring teams remain coordinated, unblocked, and focused on execution.
  • Design and implement effective planning cadences, sprint structures, and decision-making processes that provide organizational clarity without unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Document engineering decision-making processes and establish structures that help new and existing engineers understand how teams operate.
  • Develop technical leadership across the organization by establishing coordination rhythms and clear career and growth paths for engineers.
  • Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks affecting engineering productivity, including prioritization challenges, cross-team dependencies, code review delays, unnecessary meetings, and context switching.
  • Own delivery of major cross-team initiatives by defining success criteria, monitoring progress, managing dependencies, and escalating risks when necessary.
  • Maintain hands-on technical involvement through code, architecture decisions, mentoring engineering leaders, and resolving complex technical challenges.
  • Partner with engineering leadership on technical strategy and the evolution of the organization’s architecture.
  • Establish lightweight architecture review processes that encourage informed and coordinated technical decisions.
  • Develop scalable culture and feedback mechanisms, including skip-level one-on-ones and regular engineering retrospectives.
  • Foster a feedback environment where code reviews and architecture discussions contribute to continuous learning and stronger technical decisions.

Qualifications

  • Experience scaling an engineering organization to approximately 100 people.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing operating processes for larger engineering organizations, including planning, sprint management, dependency management, and risk identification.
  • Deep hands-on technical expertise with the ability to engage in sophisticated discussions involving software architecture, distributed systems, and technical trade-offs.
  • Experience making and evaluating significant technical architecture decisions.
  • Experience managing complex cross-functional programs involving four or more teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate dependencies, resolve conflicts, and keep complex engineering initiatives on track.
  • Strong track record of delivering major technical projects while balancing speed, quality, and execution.
  • Ability to work effectively with founders and hands-on technical leadership.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, including the ability to provide thoughtful technical and organizational pushback when appropriate.
  • Ability to mentor engineering leaders and create an environment that enables high-performing technical teams.
  • Experience with application security, infrastructure security, or software supply chain security is a plus.
  • Strong interest in engineering culture, organizational effectiveness, and sustainable technical execution.
