Company Overview

A software security company focused on helping developers and security teams build and ship software faster by reducing security-related overhead. Its platform enables organizations to discover, audit, and manage open-source software while improving software supply chain security. The company is backed by significant venture funding and serves organizations across the technology industry.

Responsibilities

  • Scale the engineering organization from approximately 40 to 80+ engineers while maintaining velocity, code quality, and organizational culture.
  • Serve as both an operational and technical leader, keeping engineering teams coordinated and unblocked while contributing to architecture and technical strategy.
  • Design lightweight planning cadences, sprint structures, decision-making processes, and organizational practices that support growth without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Establish clear processes for engineering decisions and documentation so teams can operate effectively as the organization grows.
  • Build and strengthen technical leadership across the engineering organization through coordination rhythms, leadership development, and clear career growth paths.
  • Identify and eliminate major operational bottlenecks affecting engineering productivity, including prioritization issues, cross-team dependencies, code review delays, unnecessary meetings, and context switching.
  • Own delivery of major cross-team initiatives by defining success criteria, tracking progress, managing dependencies, and escalating risks early.
  • Maintain hands-on technical involvement through code, architecture decisions, technical mentoring, and resolution of complex engineering challenges.
  • Partner on technical strategy and help define the future direction of the company’s architecture.
  • Establish lightweight architecture review processes that enable informed and coordinated technical decisions without unnecessarily slowing development.
  • Develop scalable feedback and culture practices, including skip-level one-on-ones, regular retrospectives, and feedback mechanisms that encourage continuous learning.
  • Promote engineering practices where code reviews support learning and architecture reviews improve decision-making.
  • Work closely with executive and company leadership to shape how the engineering organization operates and scales.

Qualifications

  • Experience scaling an engineering organization to approximately 100 people, with a clear understanding of the organizational challenges that emerge at different stages of growth.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing engineering operating systems, including planning processes, sprint cycles, dependency management, and risk identification.
  • Ability to create organizational structure and clarity without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Deep hands-on technical expertise, including regular coding experience and the ability to engage in sophisticated discussions around architecture, distributed systems, and technical trade-offs.
  • Strong experience making and evaluating major technical decisions, including the ability to challenge engineering teams constructively on design and architecture.
  • Experience managing complex cross-functional engineering programs involving four or more teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify dependencies early, resolve conflicts, and keep complex initiatives on track.
  • Strong track record of delivering significant technical projects with an emphasis on speed, quality, and measurable impact.
  • Ability to work effectively with founders and hands-on executive leadership, including the ability to provide thoughtful pushback and collaborate on difficult decisions.
  • Strong people leadership skills with a focus on developing engineering leaders and enabling teams to perform at their best.
  • Commitment to building a strong engineering culture alongside operational and technical excellence.
  • Experience in security, infrastructure security, or software supply chain security is a plus.
  • Familiarity with shipping security-focused features or working with security infrastructure is a plus.
