The organization is seeking a Software Engineer, AI to help shape the platform for building AI-powered agents and applications. The role will involve working across APIs, plugins, AI framework integrations, and developer-facing experiences while helping identify and address challenges faced by developers using the platform.

The successful candidate will be an excellent software engineer with strong instincts for developer experience, API design, and composable abstractions. The position offers opportunities to work across a broad product and infrastructure surface area and contribute to the development of AI applications at the forefront of the industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Work across APIs, plugins, and AI framework integrations to improve the platform for building agentic applications and agents.
• Stay closely connected to how developers are using the platform and identify opportunities to improve the developer experience.
• Identify product and technical gaps and take ownership of developing effective solutions.
• Prioritize and independently drive projects in collaboration with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with the engineering team and AI-focused leadership to determine and execute high-impact initiatives.
• Strengthen the platform’s capabilities for agentic development through demos, examples, and direct engagement with customers.
• Develop software and technical solutions for emerging approaches to building AI-powered applications.
• Work across different layers of the technology stack to understand systems deeply and contribute wherever needed.
• Design and develop composable APIs and abstractions that support simple, scalable, and maintainable applications.
• Contribute to platform improvements ranging from developer experience enhancements to larger structural changes and performance optimization.

Required Qualifications

• Experience building developer-facing products, APIs, or software tooling.
• Strong understanding of developer experience and what makes developer tools intuitive and effective.
• Genuine curiosity about how AI is changing the way software is developed.
• Ability to write high-quality, maintainable software.
• Strong problem-solving and software engineering skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize projects effectively.
• Enthusiasm for learning complex systems and working across different layers of a technology stack.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and technical leadership.
• Interest in working in a high-growth startup environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with TypeScript.
• Experience working on AI applications, agentic systems, or AI developer tooling.
• Experience working across both product and infrastructure engineering.
• Experience as a founder or in an entrepreneurial engineering environment.
• Experience working remotely with a high degree of self-direction.
• Interest in working primarily in person from a San Francisco-based engineering environment.

Work Environment

The role is primarily based in San Francisco, with an emphasis on working in person with the engineering team. The organization primarily hires in San Francisco while accommodating remote arrangements for certain experienced candidates.
