The organization is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to take ownership of complex AI products from early experimentation through production. This role will contribute to technical direction, establish methods for evaluating and improving agent performance, and help raise the quality of AI products and engineering practices.

The successful candidate will combine strong software engineering skills with hands-on experience building production systems powered by language models. This position requires the ability to work across the full technology stack, develop reliable AI agents, lead complex projects, and use customer insights to shape product development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and ship customer-facing AI experiences from concept through production.
• Build agent orchestration systems, tool-use capabilities, interfaces, APIs, and backend infrastructure.
• Develop reliable agent loops that can reason over complex context, call tools, recover from failures, and complete long-running tasks.
• Create evaluation systems to measure AI and agent performance.
• Analyze failures and continuously improve prompts, context, models, tools, and product workflows.
• Build APIs, data pipelines, interfaces, and production infrastructure required to transform prototypes into polished products.
• Own complex AI products throughout experimentation, development, deployment, and ongoing optimization.
• Contribute to technical direction and establish effective engineering and evaluation practices.
• Collaborate directly with customers to understand their needs and use their feedback to influence product development.
• Mentor engineers, share technical knowledge, and contribute to the professional growth of team members.
• Apply strong product thinking when designing and developing user-facing AI software.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Deep experience building production systems using large language models.
• Hands-on experience with agent loops, tool use, retrieval, prompting, and structured outputs.
• Experience developing and operating production software across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure.
• Proven experience leading complex technical projects from experimentation through production.
• Ability to independently define technical solutions rather than relying solely on predefined specifications.
• Strong product intuition and an understanding of the relationship between technical implementation and customer needs.
• Willingness to communicate directly with customers and incorporate customer insights into product development.
• Experience mentoring engineers, sharing technical knowledge, and supporting team development.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-moving engineering environment.
