This is an opportunity to join a newly established federal engineering group as one of its foundational engineers. The successful candidate will help shape the technical direction, establish engineering practices, define technical approaches for federal clients, and contribute to the strategic growth of the federal engineering organization.

Deployed Engineers provide deep technical expertise across complex federal enterprise engagements. They own a focused group of strategic accounts and address challenging technical problems, including deployment architecture, integrations, debugging, and other issues requiring strong engineering judgment.

A key part of the role involves influencing product development. The engineer will identify recurring customer challenges, develop solutions and product extensions, and translate field insights into requirements that help guide future product development.

The successful candidate will also own the technical direction of assigned accounts, making architectural and technical decisions that influence long-term adoption, deployment strategies, and the evolution of the platform in real-world environments.

Core Responsibilities

• Operate across strategic accounts and provide technical expertise for complex engagements.
• Own the technical direction and success of customer accounts and deployments.
• Translate customer challenges into product direction by defining requirements, developing solutions, and driving implementation.
• Serve as a technical connection between the Federal go-to-market team and core product engineering teams.
• Build product extensions and integrations using platform APIs and available platform capabilities.
• Architect and maintain complex enterprise deployments.
• Resolve escalated technical issues requiring advanced debugging and architectural judgment.
• Provide engineering teams with informed technical insights regarding customer and field requirements.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering foundation.
• Experience working cross-functionally, whether through wearing multiple roles at a startup or combining product and commercial thinking within a larger organization.
• Experience working within government environments or at a company focused on government customers.
• Demonstrated track record of pursuing high standards and excellence in a professional or technical field.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or a similar programming language.
• Ability to navigate and contribute to unfamiliar codebases.
• Experience scoping and delivering features in collaboration with product and engineering teams.

Preferred Experience

• Experience building software at organizations recognized for strong engineering practices.
• Background in forward-deployed engineering, solutions architecture, or similar technical positions.
• Experience with enterprise infrastructure, including cloud deployments, networking, and security.
• Interest in working closely with customers while influencing product development and evolution.
• Ability to tackle complex problems without obvious solutions and operate independently to develop effective approaches.
• High tolerance for ambiguity, fast-paced environments, and sustained effort when complex problems require it.
