Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership in designing and evolving next-generation statistical computing platforms.
  • Anticipate emerging industry trends, technologies, and regulatory developments and translate them into forward-looking data science capabilities, frameworks, and standards.
  • Lead large-scale, cross-functional initiatives that transform how clinical, operational, and real-world data are processed, visualized, and interpreted.
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor to platform owners, programming and statistical leadership, and governance teams on complex infrastructure, automation, and scientific computing matters.
  • Guide technical vision, architectural decisions, and resource planning for high-impact tooling and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Resolve complex system-level challenges across disciplines by applying advanced scientific computing expertise and systems thinking.
  • Influence internal policies, development standards, and best practices across teams, functions, and geographic locations.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior stakeholders and influence decisions regarding investment, tooling strategies, and portfolio priorities.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, innovation, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop scalable and reusable solutions that improve statistical computing efficiency and support reliable evidence generation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data science platforms meet current and future organizational needs.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in data science, statistical computing, or platform development.
  • Demonstrated record of delivering significant organizational or cross-functional impact.
  • Recognized expertise in building and scaling scientific or statistical software systems.
  • Strong understanding of clinical research environments and applicable regulatory considerations.
  • Expertise in multiple programming environments, such as Python and R.
  • Experience applying development practices that support reproducible, compliant, and high-performance computing.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technically complex and strategically significant programs or cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong independent decision-making capabilities based on sound technical and scientific principles.
  • Excellent strategic agility, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and systems-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds in a global workplace.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders and clearly communicate technical strategies.
  • Proven experience leading global, cross-functional projects or workstreams across time zones and diverse stakeholder groups.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience shaping the architecture and long-term roadmap of enterprise-scale data science platforms or statistical computing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence regulatory and quality frameworks related to digital and analytical tools.
  • Strategic understanding of healthcare data ecosystems, including real-world data, translational pipelines, and high-dimensional data integration.
  • Proven ability to drive technology adoption and organizational change through technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and thoughtful solution design.
  • Engagement with external scientific or developer communities through open-source contributions, industry consortia, conference presentations, or similar activities.
  • Experience guiding investment and resource decisions for high-impact tooling or analytics initiatives.
  • Ability to translate organizational priorities into technically sound, scalable, and impactful solutions.
