A global enterprise software company is seeking a Senior AI/ML Applied Scientist to join its cutting-edge ABAP Foundation Model team. The organization drives cloud transformation and innovation across multiple industries, leveraging large language models and advanced AI to accelerate customer data and code transformation. The team collaborates internationally with research institutions, internal stakeholders, and early adopter clients to deliver impactful AI solutions.

Summary
The Senior AI/ML Applied Scientist will lead the design, development, and integration of foundation AI models into enterprise cloud solutions. This role combines hands-on technical expertise, strategic project leadership, and mentorship of junior and senior data scientists, supporting global AI initiatives and collaborative research programs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development, fine-tuning, and integration of foundation models to enhance cloud transformation solutions
  • Collaborate with internal teams across regions, research partners, and early adopter customers
  • Mentor and lead data science teams, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence
  • Coordinate research initiatives with academic partners and data science leads of global ABAP Foundation Model teams
  • Drive strategic initiatives to optimize AI model performance and deployment

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in data science, with proven leadership on complex projects
  • Expertise in deep learning, large language models, and frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
