A leading global logistics and delivery technology company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Data Engineering to strengthen its data infrastructure. The organization provides innovative delivery solutions for businesses and consumers, leveraging large-scale data pipelines, analytics platforms, and cloud-based architectures to support business intelligence, product optimization, and operational decision-making.

About the Role
The Senior Software Engineer, Data Engineering will serve as a technical leader, designing and implementing large-scale data models and pipelines to scale infrastructure, automation, and tools that meet growing business needs. This role requires collaboration with engineering, product, and third-party teams to ensure high-quality, reliable, and performant data solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business partners and stakeholders to gather and understand data requirements
  • Work with engineering, product, and third-party teams to collect and integrate required data
  • Design, develop, and implement large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data models and pipelines for Data Lake and Data Warehouse
  • Develop and implement data quality checks, conduct QA, and implement monitoring routines
  • Improve reliability and scalability of ETL processes
  • Manage a portfolio of data products delivering high-quality, trustworthy data
  • Mentor and onboard new engineers joining the team

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or related roles
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or similar positions
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Java
  • 3+ years of experience in ETL orchestration and workflow management tools (Airflow, Flink, Oozie, Azkaban) using AWS/GCP
  • Expert knowledge of database fundamentals, SQL, and distributed computing
  • 3+ years of experience with distributed data ecosystems (Spark, Hive, Druid, Presto) and streaming technologies (Kafka, Flink)
  • Experience with Snowflake, Redshift, PostgreSQL, or other DBMS platforms
  • Familiarity with reporting tools such as Tableau, Superset, and Looker
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical teams
  • Self-starter, able to work in a fast-paced environment and think strategically
  • Must be located near one of the engineering hubs: San Francisco, Sunnyvale, or Seattle
