A leading higher education institution seeks an Assistant Director to lead enterprise data strategy and business intelligence initiatives. The organization focuses on delivering scalable data solutions, governance frameworks, and analytics support across finance, operations, and capital planning to enable informed decision-making and operational excellence.

Summary
The Assistant Director, Data Strategy & Business Intelligence, will drive the development and execution of a centralized data strategy across a complex organization. The role includes establishing enterprise data standards, designing scalable dashboards and reporting solutions, and acting as a strategic advisor to leadership to promote data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-wide data strategy, including centralized data governance and standards
  • Design and deliver scalable data models, dashboards, and reporting solutions for finance, operations, and capital planning
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, and Business Systems to translate complex business needs into governed data products
  • Represent the organization in data governance and ERP initiatives, influencing system design, data architecture, and reporting frameworks
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership on analytics and operational effectiveness
  • Operate effectively in a complex, matrixed environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data governance
  • Proven experience leading BI strategy, data governance frameworks, and analytics initiatives
  • Familiarity with financial and operational data structures and ERP reporting environments
  • Hands-on experience with dashboards and data modeling tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in hybrid schedule with at least 2 days on-site
