Summary
The Associate Director, AI Operations & Enablement will drive the impact of the Enterprise AI function across the organization. Reporting to the Senior Director, AI Transformation Lead, this role focuses on AI education, capability building, use case portfolio management, and AI tool/vendor oversight. This is a high-visibility, inaugural role on a small team, combining hands-on execution with cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

AI Strategy, Governance & Use Case Portfolio Management

  • Translate enterprise AI strategy into function-level execution and deliverables.
  • Engage regularly with business and scientific functions to surface, intake, and prioritize AI use cases.
  • Partner with AI engineering teams to design efficient and effective AI solutions.
  • Track use case value and ROI throughout their lifecycle.
  • Maintain visibility of solutions built and encourage cross-functional reuse.
  • Operate the AI Operational Governance Forum to support decision-making and risk management.
  • Support the evolution of AI strategy, policies, and roadmaps, staying current on industry trends.

AI Education & Capability Building

  • Design and execute AI learning programs to drive adoption and responsible usage.
  • Build and manage an AI change champion network to scale adoption.
  • Develop reusable AI enablement assets and collaborate with Communications and Learning & Development teams.
  • Provide hands-on coaching to teams implementing AI tools.

AI Tool & Vendor Management

  • Support AI tool evaluation, procurement, and lifecycle management.
  • Administer core enterprise AI platforms, including configuration, rollout, and user support.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts in partnership with Procurement and Legal.
  • Coordinate with InfoSec on AI risk reviews, sandbox governance, and shadow AI monitoring.
  • Maintain AI tool intake, approval processes, and product/use case records in the organization’s GRC system.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in technology, AI, digital transformation, or consulting roles, including leading enterprise AI programs.
  • Hands-on AI fluency with leading LLM platforms (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) and low-code prototyping.
  • Understanding of agentic AI concepts, autonomous agents, and human-in-the-loop design.
  • Experience managing AI use case portfolios, structured intake, prioritization, and ROI tracking.
  • Vendor and enterprise SaaS/tool management experience, including Procurement, Legal, and InfoSec collaboration.
  • Proven track record in training, enablement, or change management programs for non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate cross-functionally without direct authority.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, translating technical concepts for business audiences.
  • Client-facing experience in consulting, customer success, or IT business partner roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical, business, or scientific field.

Preferred

  • Experience in life sciences, biotech, or healthcare; familiarity with regulatory and IP considerations.
  • Administration experience with Claude Enterprise, ChatGPT Enterprise, or M365 Copilot.
  • Knowledge of AI governance frameworks (NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001) and research integrity considerations.
  • Experience with MCP servers, agentic platforms, and AI workflow automation tools (Zapier, Workato).
