Company Overview
A leading U.S.-based data science consulting firm partners with organizations to build mission-specific artificial intelligence (AI) technologies that support transformation and innovation. The team specializes in predictive and generative AI, offering strategy, technical delivery, and advisory services across multiple sectors, including healthcare, manufacturing, finance, and public services. Their approach is consultative and platform-agnostic, helping clients implement AI solutions such as advanced analytics, autonomous systems, optimization tools, and GenAI-enabled knowledge systems.

Summary
The AI Technical Project Lead will manage end-to-end execution of AI and consulting initiatives, bridging technical delivery, project coordination, and executive communication. This role ensures AI workstreams progress predictably while stakeholders have the visibility and information needed to make decisions. The candidate will translate business priorities into well-scoped work, manage cross-functional teams, and communicate progress and recommendations to leadership.

Responsibilities

Technical Program Management & Coordination

  • Collaborate with technical leaders on delivery for AI/GenAI and data workstreams across client engagements, managing scope, timeline, dependencies, budget, and quality
  • Coordinate project-oriented work efforts, ensuring status reporting and stability within programs
  • Translate business requirements into user stories, technical tasks, and maintain backlog hygiene (acceptance criteria, prioritization, sizing, definition of done)
  • Run standups, plan sprints and demos, and conduct retros to unblock teams and ensure delivery commitments
  • Partner with architects, engineers, MLOps, and data science teams to validate feasibility, sequencing, and integration dependencies (e.g., LLM integration, RAG, model deployment)
  • Proactively manage risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies (RAID), change control, and release planning
  • Optimize program deliverables, including critical paths, inter-project dependencies, and mitigation of risks

Executive Communication

  • Create weekly leadership updates including status, key decisions, risks, mitigations, and requests
  • Build and deliver clear presentations connecting technical progress to outcomes, timelines, and tradeoffs
  • Facilitate executive decision-making by surfacing options, impacts, and recommendations
  • Partner with engagement leadership to prepare steering committees, QBRs, and milestone reviews with talk tracks, visuals, and pre-reads

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, STEM, or related field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science)
  • 4+ years managing technical delivery for data, analytics, or AI initiatives in consulting or enterprise settings
  • 4+ years of client-facing experience, driving stakeholder communication to executives
  • 4+ years experience in Agile/Scrum or hybrid delivery models
  • 4+ years using delivery tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, Asana)
  • Experience managing delivery governance, KPI reporting, and/or budgets
  • Ability to travel ~10% and live within commuting distance of a consulting office
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in business, STEM, or related field
  • Strong communication skills with ability to clarify ambiguity into actionable narratives
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML and GenAI concepts (LLMs, prompt patterns, RAG, MLOps) and modern data platforms
  • Technical fluency for coordinating engineering and data science teams
  • Experience with change management and AI solution rollout
  • Experience supporting pre-sales activities including scoping, estimating, and workplan development
