Overview of the Role
The Data Governance Manager is responsible for multiple aspects of data management and operations, including database administration, business intelligence, architecture, analytics, governance, and quality. This role develops tools and processes to maintain firm-wide data standards, implements common data dictionaries, reduces data redundancy, and ensures consistency, quality, and reliability of data for decision-making.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with data analysts, business users, and stakeholders to identify data requirements and implement solutions for internal datamarts
Optimize queries to improve database performance
Implement data validation and cleansing routines to ensure accuracy and consistency
Register, implement, and monitor critical data elements and business rules
Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues to maintain data integrity
Implement and monitor data quality checks to ensure consistency and reliability across the organization
Document technical specifications, data models, ETL processes, and data flow diagrams for reference and collaboration
Test group datamarts to meet functional and performance requirements
Provide data points and statistics to support system and platform decision-making
Monitor execution of data cleansing and quality processes for platform development
Implement end-to-end automation solutions to optimize team efficiency
Manage data access matrices and conduct periodic reviews of data and system access
Review regulatory requirements, provide necessary controls, and conduct team training to ensure compliance
Requirements
5–7 years of relevant experience
Strong skills in SAS/SQL for querying, data transformation, and optimization
Ability to design and understand data schema models suitable for datamarts
Experience integrating data from multiple sources
Solid understanding of data quality principles and techniques
Ability to troubleshoot technical challenges efficiently
Strong verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder interaction and documentation
Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, SAS, VBA, and SQL
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Dedication to staying current with the latest data engineering tools and technologies
