Responsibilities
- Translate customer goals into implementation plans: Understand customer challenges and objectives, then develop implementation strategies, workshops, and best practices that demonstrate clear business value.
- Implement solutions directly in customer codebases: With appropriate customer authorization, work alongside engineering teams to configure the platform and submit pull requests that establish complete integrations and ensure data flows correctly.
- Develop custom instrumentation: Implement telemetry for critical customer journeys and build relevant dashboards and alerts to improve application monitoring.
- Lead platform migrations: Help customers transition from existing observability solutions by configuring their new platform environments, implementing required integrations, and removing legacy tooling.
- Deliver production-ready code: Work closely with customer engineering teams, operate within approved access and project scopes, thoroughly test changes, and deliver reliable pull requests suitable for production environments.
- Collaborate directly with customer teams: Embed with engineering organizations, including through on-site engagements when beneficial, to resolve implementation challenges.
- Develop repeatable deployment processes: Convert individual customer implementations into reusable playbooks, tools, and resources.
- Help establish the forward deployed function: Contribute to engagement scoping, success measurement, and operational processes for customer-facing engineering projects.
- Share customer insights: Communicate deployment findings and recurring customer needs to Product and Engineering teams to inform platform improvements.
Qualifications
- At least 8 years of combined experience across software engineering, solutions engineering, implementation engineering, or related technical customer-facing roles.
- Hands-on experience with programming languages and frameworks such as:
- JavaScript
- Python
- Node.js
- Java
- PHP
- .NET
- Ruby
- React
- React Native
- Native mobile development for iOS and/or Android
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to establish technical credibility among software engineers and engineering leaders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach to resolving technical challenges.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
- Interest in developer tools, open-source technologies, and software development lifecycle practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with observability, application performance monitoring (APM), or error monitoring platforms.
- Experience migrating customers from competing observability or monitoring vendors.
- Experience establishing or contributing to a forward deployed engineering, customer engineering, or technical implementation function.
