Company Overview
The organization operates an AI-powered platform designed to modernize the wealth management industry. It provides financial professionals with technology to improve operational efficiency, optimize resources, and deliver better outcomes for their clients. The company focuses on making financial advice more accessible and affordable through secure, scalable technology.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of cloud, DevOps, and database reliability engineers across local and offshore locations, including conducting one-on-one meetings, establishing growth plans, managing performance, and making hiring decisions.
- Own delivery of the Cloud Engineering roadmap, including a governed Amazon EKS platform for broker-dealer and clearing systems, pilot-light disaster recovery with a recovery time objective (RTO) of 60 minutes or less and a recovery point objective (RPO) of 15 minutes or less, PostgreSQL upgrades, and edge gateway consolidation.
- Strengthen software supply chain security and software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices through software bills of materials (SBOMs), signed provenance, hardened golden images, and policy-as-code admission controls in partnership with Security Engineering.
- Manage the cloud on-call rotation and incident response processes, including service-level agreements (SLAs), runbooks, blameless post-incident reviews, and follow-through on corrective actions.
- Improve developer experience through ephemeral environments, faster CI/CD pipelines, and self-service infrastructure, measuring progress using DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) metrics.
- Manage cloud infrastructure and observability costs using a cost-per-service approach, communicating trade-offs clearly to Finance and engineering leadership.
- Represent Cloud Engineering during audits and regulatory reviews, providing automated evidence wherever possible instead of relying on manual documentation.
- Mentor engineers in secure infrastructure practices to ensure systems remain performant, resilient, and protected against security vulnerabilities.
- Review infrastructure code and participate in technical and architectural decisions to maintain long-term scalability, reliability, and security.
Qualifications
- At least 6 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering, including at least 2 years managing engineers at a B2B financial services, fintech, or SaaS organization.
- Deep expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS), including networking, identity and access management (IAM), compute, storage, and cost management at production scale.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, particularly Amazon EKS, and Infrastructure as Code tools and practices.
- Experience with Terraform, Helm, and GitOps delivery using Argo CD.
- Proven ownership of CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab pipelines, artifact management, secrets management with Vault, and release safety.
- Experience managing production on-call rotations and serving as a senior escalation point during incidents.
- Familiarity with observability practices using OpenTelemetry, service-level objectives (SLOs), and error budgets to guide operational decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to hire, develop, and retain engineers, including remote and offshore team members.
- Strong technical aptitude and the ability to quickly understand modern technology stacks, including Kubernetes, Kafka, Temporal, PostgreSQL, and Snowflake.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to listen actively, explain technical perspectives clearly, and collaborate across teams.
- Strong ownership, resilience, sound judgment, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Confidence in technical decision-making, balanced with humility and openness to differing perspectives.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience and technical knowledge are also valued.
