Responsibilities
- Deploy, set up, and commission robotic systems in field environments, configuring and validating equipment to ensure it operates according to specifications.
- Serve as the first line of technical response when field issues occur, diagnosing hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, and integration problems on-site.
- Resolve technical issues independently when possible and escalate complex problems with clear, actionable documentation.
- Lead root-cause analysis for field failures, distinguishing isolated incidents from systemic issues and communicating findings to engineering teams.
- Feed field observations and failure analysis back into product design, manufacturing, and maintenance processes to support future system improvements.
- Develop and maintain field operating procedures, maintenance procedures, checklists, and technical documentation.
- Support safe and consistent operation and servicing of robotic equipment by translating field experience into repeatable procedures.
- Partner with design and manufacturing engineering teams to turn field lessons into product and process improvements.
- Lead field rollouts of new systems and serve as the technical bridge between engineering teams and equipment operators.
- Maintain field-ready tooling, spare parts, and test equipment to minimize unnecessary equipment downtime.
- Support multi-week field deployments and live operations in outdoor, remote, and challenging environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on engineering experience.
- 3+ years of experience in field engineering, field service engineering, systems engineering, or a related role supporting complex hardware.
- Experience working with robotic or electromechanical systems is preferred.
- Broad engineering knowledge spanning mechanical systems, electrical systems, and basic software or controls troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and resolve technical problems under real-world operating conditions and time constraints.
- Strong technical documentation skills, with the ability to turn field experience into clear procedures and instructions.
- Willingness to travel and spend multiple weeks at deployment sites supporting live operations.
- Ability to work in outdoor, remote, or austere environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting robotics systems deployed in remote, industrial, or challenging field environments.
- Experience supporting a product through initial field deployments or early-stage fleet expansion.
- Familiarity with root-cause and corrective action (RCCA) methodologies.
- Experience using basic scripting or software tools for diagnostics, troubleshooting, and field data collection.
