Responsibilities
- Conduct root-cause analysis of perception model performance issues using a system-level and sensor-performance perspective to identify underlying causes of failures and regressions.
- Develop software and engineering tools that streamline root-cause analysis, data analysis, triage, and model evaluation workflows.
- Analyze data-loop processes and triage results to identify requirements for improved data collection, labeling, and augmentation to enhance model robustness.
- Establish, review, and maintain evaluation metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for perception models.
- Implement evaluation metrics in software to identify and prevent future perception-model regressions and ensure models meet performance requirements for autonomous driving features.
- Collaborate with teams across perception and systems engineering to address technical challenges and establish consistent approaches to understanding system performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated experience deploying autonomous driving or autonomy systems in real-world environments.
- Strong familiarity with machine learning systems operating in production environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex, system-level technical issues.
- Ability to apply first-principles thinking and investigate problems that span multiple technical domains.
- Strong coordination and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a highly cross-functional and fast-paced engineering environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with teams across perception and systems engineering.
