This role provides an opportunity to shape how enterprises apply AI to real-world business challenges. The Forward Deployed Engineer will serve as a bridge between the North product and customer engineering teams, helping solve complex technical problems and securely integrate AI into critical industries such as finance, healthcare, and telecommunications.

The successful candidate will design, build, and deploy agentic workflows powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), taking solutions from early prototypes through production-grade AI agents. The role involves working directly with customers to solve complex business problems and developing agent workflows that integrate LLMs with tools, APIs, and enterprise data sources.

The position requires a startup-fast pace while maintaining enterprise-level standards for reliability, observability, safety, and auditability.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with enterprise customers to translate ambiguous, high-value business problems into well-defined agentic workflows with clear success criteria and evaluation methodologies.
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of LLM-powered agents capable of reasoning, planning, and acting across tools, APIs, and sensitive enterprise data sources.
• Build enterprise-grade AI solutions with strong reliability, scalability, performance, safety, and observability.
• Develop and ship features for the North AI workspace platform across the full product lifecycle, from conceptualization through production.
• Own the scoping and development of customer use cases from end to end, adapting across technical areas, including frontend development, when necessary.
• Contribute to shared frameworks, engineering patterns, and reusable approaches that enable consistent, high-quality delivery across customers and teams.
• Drive clarity in ambiguous technical situations and build alignment among engineering, product, and customer stakeholders.
• Help raise engineering standards and quality across the organization.
• Travel approximately 20–40% to work on-site with customers and partners.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building and deploying production-grade software using Python.
• Ability to write clean, testable, observable, scalable, and maintainable code.
• Experience building and deploying highly performant Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and agentic applications.
• Experience developing agents capable of planning and executing multi-step tasks using approaches such as ReAct or Plan-and-Execute.
• Strong familiarity with the LLM technology stack, including frontier models, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks.
• Proven ability to develop robust evaluation frameworks that measure agent accuracy, safety, latency, and overall performance.
• Experience working directly with customers and leading technical discussions with enterprise stakeholders.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into clear technical specifications and implementation plans.
• Experience owning technical use cases from initial concept through deployment and production.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and ambiguous environments while adapting to changing priorities.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
