Position Summary
The Senior Engineer, AI and Automation, will build and maintain AI infrastructure and automation pipelines to enable enterprise-wide AI adoption. Operating within the Digital Platforms team, this hands-on role partners with the Enterprise AI team to productionize AI workflows, deploy agentic tooling, and integrate AI across business functions. Responsibilities include developing AI-powered solutions, maintaining MLOps frameworks, and supporting AI governance and security standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and deploy AI use cases across business functions including finance, legal, HR, research, and operations
  • Maintain AI infrastructure: MCP server builds, agentic frameworks, LLM orchestration, and low-code/no-code automation tools (Zapier, Workato)
  • Partner with Enterprise AI leads to scope and accelerate AI use case delivery from triage to production
  • Build and maintain integrations between AI tools and enterprise systems (Coupa, NetSuite, Slack, M365)
  • Establish MLOps platforms for deployment, observability, and feedback loops for AI workflows
  • Evaluate and implement AI-enabled SaaS tools, including proof-of-concept builds and vendor assessments
  • Contribute to AI governance: usage monitoring, Zero Data Retention compliance, sandbox governance, and documentation
  • Collaborate with Information Security on AI risk management, agentic workflow guardrails, and shadow AI detection

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of technical delivery experience
  • 4+ years of software (Python preferred) and automation engineering experience, shipping LLM-based systems to production
  • 2+ years of cloud-first architecture experience (AWS preferred)
  • 2+ years of building and launching applications using DevOps and MLOps tools
  • Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar), prompt engineering, and multi-step agentic workflows
  • Experience with MCP and agentic tool frameworks
  • Familiarity with RAG architectures, vector databases, and document ingestion pipelines
  • Knowledge of ERP, HRIS, and enterprise automation platforms (Zapier, Workato, Make)
  • Ability to integrate SaaS systems via APIs, webhooks, and event-driven architectures
  • Strong judgment in build vs. buy decisions and MVP vs. production scoping
  • Able to independently identify high-leverage automation opportunities and communicate reasoning effectively
  • Clear communication skills for working with non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Background in life sciences, biotech, or research-adjacent environments
  • Experience in fast-moving, high-accountability delivery environments
  • Direct experience with Coupa, NetSuite, Workday, UKG, or similar ERP/HCM platforms
