Job Description

The SpringCube team curated the following job opportunity to help you in your job search. Explore the position below to find your next career move.

Company Overview
A biotechnology company backed by Flagship Ventures is focused on transforming the approach to information molecule therapeutics. The company integrates nanoparticle development with advanced informatics and innovative experimentation to develop next-generation therapies for historically undruggable diseases. The organization seeks collaborative problem-solvers passionate about scientific impact and innovation.

Summary
The Associate Scientist/Scientist I will develop and optimize lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations for nucleic acid therapeutics. This role contributes to both platform innovation and preclinical pipeline programs, bridging formulation science, analytical characterization, chemistry, and process development.

Responsibilities

  • Design, formulate, and characterize lipid nanoparticle (LNP) systems for nucleic acid delivery across early research and preclinical stages
  • Develop and optimize formulation processes, including microfluidic mixing and scale-up approaches such as TFF and ultrafiltration
  • Screen and evaluate novel ionizable lipids and LNP compositions; analyze structure–function relationships to improve delivery performance
  • Troubleshoot formulation and process challenges to enhance robustness, reproducibility, and scalability
  • Generate high-quality, reproducible data and maintain thorough documentation in electronic lab notebooks
  • Prepare LNP formulations to support internal research and partner programs
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with analytical, translational, and technology development teams
  • Present data and insights clearly to internal teams and contribute to scientific discussions and decision-making

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. with 0–1 years, M.Sc. with 4+ years, or B.Sc. with 6+ years of relevant experience in LNP formulation and drug delivery
  • Hands-on experience in nanoparticle or LNP formulation and characterization
  • Strong understanding of drug delivery systems for nucleic acid therapeutics
  • Experience with nanoparticle characterization techniques (DLS, zeta potential, fluorescence-based assays, chromatography)
  • Demonstrated ability to design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments independently
  • Strong data analysis, documentation, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with formulation process technologies such as microfluidic mixers, pumping systems, and TFF
  • Experience with high-throughput formulation screening approaches
  • Knowledge of lipid chemistry, ionizable lipid design, or bioconjugation techniques
  • Experience supporting in vivo studies or translating formulations from research to preclinical scale

What We Value

  • Scientific rigor and attention to data quality and reproducibility
  • Curiosity and a problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear and concise communication across disciplines
  • Ownership and accountability in driving projects forward
