A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join its analytics hub within the finance department. Summary
The Senior Data Scientist will serve as an analytics lead for business units, translating complex business challenges into actionable data-driven solutions. This role involves full ownership of the machine learning lifecycle and close collaboration with business leaders, data engineers, and product managers to ensure real-world impact. The position is eligible for the Flex Persona for candidates local to the Boston, MA office.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leaders to translate goals into data-driven hypotheses and identify complex problems solvable with advanced analytics and machine learning
  • Own the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle, including prototyping, feature engineering, model development, validation, deployment, and performance monitoring
  • Develop frameworks to quantify business impact, linking analytical solutions to metrics such as revenue, efficiency, and customer satisfaction
  • Promote best practices in coding, modeling, and MLOps to create scalable, reproducible, and maintainable solutions
  • Act as the central point of contact for projects, collaborating across teams to ensure successful model integration and adoption
  • Stay current with state-of-the-art techniques, explore new data sources, tools, and methodologies to address emerging business challenges
  • Mentor and guide other team members to foster technical excellence and innovation

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience transforming large, complex datasets into impactful analytical solutions
  • Experience with healthcare data (medical claims, pharmacy claims, eligibility) is highly desirable
  • Degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Expertise in Python or R for statistical modeling, machine learning, and data manipulation
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with large-scale relational databases (Snowflake experience preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle and version control systems like Git
  • Strong data visualization skills using tools such as Tableau
  • Self-directed, creative problem-solver with the ability to translate high-level business questions into analytical projects
  • Experience leading projects in Agile environments from discovery to delivery
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Curiosity, drive to innovate, and ability to mentor others while introducing new tools and techniques
