Summary
The Director of Data Products & Engineering is a strategic and visionary leader responsible for defining and executing the enterprise data products and engineering strategy. This role oversees the full data lifecycle, including architecture, engineering, operations, and governance, while building and mentoring high-performing teams to deliver innovative, value-driven data solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a unified, forward-looking vision for data products and engineering aligned with strategic business priorities
  • Lead the creation of scalable, cloud-native data products that support real-time processing for enterprise applications, analytics, AI/ML, and self-service data consumption
  • Champion enterprise-wide data strategy and promote a data-driven culture focused on evidence-based decision making
  • Build, mentor, and lead a world-class team of data product managers and engineers, fostering innovation and operational excellence
  • Establish and maintain a robust data governance framework to ensure data quality, security, privacy, and compliance
  • Define and manage the product and technical roadmap for all data assets, integrations, and services
  • Translate business needs into clear data usage, dependencies, and measurable outcomes
  • Lead global teams in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, ensuring data quality, reliability, and observability
  • Oversee DevSecOps, quality engineering, release management, and change management processes for data assets
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent across data engineering and product management teams
  • Manage software and services vendors to deliver enterprise-wide data and analytics capabilities

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related fields, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role
  • Proven success in leading and scaling data teams in complex, multi-product organizations
  • Strong expertise in modern data stack technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Kafka, dbt, Airflow) and cloud-native platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL and Python
  • Experience building data and integration solutions such as EDW, operational data stores, NoSQL databases, ETL/ELT, and caching
  • Demonstrated application of product management principles to data, including roadmap development, requirements definition, and stakeholder management
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and executive influencing skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
