A leading global semiconductor company is seeking an IT Architect – Principal to serve as the strategic technology partner for its RFFE Engineering organization. The company provides cutting-edge technology solutions, enabling advanced engineering and product development while supporting enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives.

Summary
The IT Architect – Principal acts as the primary architectural liaison between RFFE business and engineering stakeholders and OneIT, translating business priorities into scalable, secure, and future-ready technology solutions. This role shapes integrated solution, application, and data architectures to improve engineering productivity, standardization, and long-term scalability, while advancing Data & AI enablement across tools, infrastructure, and platforms. Full-time onsite work in San Diego, CA (5 days per week) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior architectural contact between RFFE Engineering and OneIT
  • Translate complex engineering and business requirements into end-to-end solution architectures, roadmaps, and execution plans
  • Ensure alignment between RFFE needs and enterprise platforms, standards, and operating models
  • Shape and govern an integrated portfolio of applications, platforms, and solutions supporting RFFE Engineering
  • Provide architectural guidance to ensure scalability, cost efficiency, reliability, and performance
  • Identify redundancies, technical debt, and simplification opportunities across the tool landscape
  • Lead architectural analysis and improvement planning for critical engineering services and infrastructure (e.g., Bench, FC3, Starlab)
  • Partner with platform, infrastructure, and operations teams to drive system resiliency and performance
  • Establish clear service ownership models for critical engineering capabilities
  • Contribute to RFFE Data & AI strategy aligned with OneIT platforms (e.g., Enterprise Data Hub, AI frameworks)
  • Define architectural approaches for engineering AI use cases, including data models, pipelines, and GPU infrastructure
  • Enable connected data architectures spanning engineering and manufacturing for analytics and AI-driven insights
  • Build trusted advisory relationships with senior engineering, product, and program management leaders
  • Influence cross-domain alignment without direct authority and provide data-driven recommendations

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in solution architecture, IT engineering enablement, or enterprise technology roles
  • Proven experience as a senior, business-facing architect in complex, global environments
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycles, tools, and digital enablement models
  • Experience shaping application, data, or platform architectures with measurable business impact
  • Ability to influence across matrixed IT and engineering organizations
  • Excellent architectural judgment, systems thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Business-outcome orientation with continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • 8+ years of IT-specific work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, OR
    • 10+ years of IT-specific work experience without a Bachelor’s degree
