Company Overview
A technology company is building AI agents designed to coordinate global supply chains and address inefficiencies across retail and other industries. The organization is led by experienced technical operators with backgrounds in advanced AI and simulation technologies and is expanding its engineering team to support growing customer demand.

Summary
The AI & Data Engineer will serve as the first AI/Data Systems engineer, building the core data infrastructure that transforms unstructured information into reliable, structured data for product features, simulations, and customer decision-making. This role combines large-scale data processing, LLM-driven reasoning, retrieval systems, data modeling, and systems architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Build end-to-end data ingestion pipelines that transform varied and unstructured inputs into clean, structured, and reliable datasets.
  • Extract, interpret, map, and reconcile information from diverse data sources.
  • Validate data accuracy and consistency and develop systems for indexing and retrieval.
  • Design LLM-driven reasoning workflows and build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines.
  • Architect and maintain a trusted, high-quality data store for downstream product systems.
  • Partner with product and application engineering teams to define data contracts and develop APIs.
  • Ensure simulation and customer-facing features are supported by consistent, explainable, and production-ready data.
  • Rapidly prototype solutions using real customer inputs and iterate based on results.
  • Debug ambiguous data and system failures and strengthen pipelines to support increasing product complexity.
  • Contribute to systems that determine what the product can understand, simulate, and deliver to customers.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in AI, data engineering, machine learning, or a related technical field.
  • Experience building data ingestion, transformation, and processing pipelines.
  • Knowledge of LLMs, retrieval systems, RAG architectures, and AI-driven reasoning workflows.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, structured schemas, data validation, and data quality.
  • Experience designing APIs and data contracts for production systems.
  • Strong systems design and software engineering capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with unstructured and ambiguous data sources.
  • Comfortable rapidly prototyping, testing, debugging, and iterating on technical solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to build reliable, scalable, and explainable systems.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with product and application engineering teams.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Company-wide work-from-a-destination opportunities, such as skiing or surfing locations, for two weeks each year.
