Company Overview
Vercel is an agentic infrastructure company focused on helping people and AI agents build, deploy, and operate the next generation of software. For more than a decade, the organization has shaped how the modern web is built through products such as Next.js, v0, and AI SDK. Its platform supports companies and millions of developers worldwide, providing the infrastructure and tools needed to move from ideas to production with speed, security, and an exceptional developer experience.
About the Role
The organization is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its Data team and take ownership of the reliability of data used by go-to-market stakeholders. The role covers the full data engineering lifecycle, including building and maintaining pipelines, transformations, and data models that turn CRM, marketing, and product usage data into reporting and forecasting infrastructure for Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Operations teams.
The successful candidate will work closely with GTM stakeholders to understand how metrics are defined and used, ensuring that data is accurate and meaningful rather than simply meeting technical specifications. The position offers significant ownership over the assigned data domain, including setting technical direction and helping establish stronger engineering standards for GTM data infrastructure.
What You Will Do
- Own pipelines that reliably bring GTM source data, including CRM, marketing automation, outbound tooling, and product usage data, into the data warehouse.
- Diagnose and resolve data quality and freshness issues at the source rather than relying solely on downstream fixes.
- Design and maintain dbt models that transform raw GTM data into clean and trusted datasets covering pipeline, revenue, attribution, and funnel metrics.
- Establish testing and documentation standards that make data models reliable, understandable, and easy to extend.
- Build datasets and semantic models that power dashboards and reporting used by Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Operations leadership.
- Reduce dependency on one-off data requests by developing solutions that enable self-service.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Operations leaders to understand their data needs and the underlying business questions.
- Challenge requirements when requested metrics or solutions do not appropriately address the underlying business question.
- Develop a strong understanding of GTM operations to identify potentially inaccurate or misleading metrics before they are released.
- Build production-quality pipeline and transformation code while maintaining high engineering standards through code reviews.
- Establish and advocate for technical approaches to GTM data modeling and pipeline architecture.
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical standards and best practices across the Data team.
About You
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a closely related field, with demonstrated ownership of production data pipelines from end to end.
- Strong SQL and Python skills, including experience developing production-grade and testable code.
- Hands-on experience with dbt or a comparable transformation framework, dimensional and data modeling, and modern ELT/ETL workflows.
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster.
- Direct experience working with GTM data, including CRM data models, pipeline and revenue reporting, sales and marketing attribution, and the definition and use of related business metrics.
- Proven ability to work with non-technical stakeholders, including Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Operations leadership.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into technical specifications and durable data models.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs to technical and business audiences.
- Experience driving alignment across teams with competing priorities.
- Demonstrated technical ownership and independent judgment when making architecture and data modeling decisions.
- Interest in improving data engineering practices and mentoring junior engineers.
