Job Description

The SpringCube team curated the following job opportunity to help you in your job search. Explore the position below to find your next career move.

Company Overview

Vercel is an agentic infrastructure company focused on enabling people and AI agents to build, deploy, and operate the next generation of software. For more than a decade, the organization has helped shape modern web development through products and technologies such as Next.js, v0, and AI SDK.

The company is building infrastructure for a future where software is increasingly built, extended, and operated by AI agents. Its platform is trusted by organizations worldwide and used by millions of developers.

You’ll lead the team responsible for Vercel’s CDN, proxy, and edge caching systems—the core infrastructure that powers performance, reliability, and cost efficiency for every customer request at Vercel. Your mandate is twofold: Operate critical systems exceptionally across latency, reliability, and cost efficiency, while aligning the team with product and business goals and translating strategy into a clear roadmap.

You will set direction, develop engineers, and create the conditions for high trust, high autonomy, and high performance while balancing technical depth with strong people leadership. This is a management role rather than a principal individual contributor position. Coding will be performed when it provides the highest leverage, such as developing prototypes or unblocking technical challenges, while the primary focus will be delegation, coaching, and organizational alignment.

About the Role

  • Lead the engineering team responsible for CDN, proxy, and edge caching infrastructure.
  • Ensure critical systems operate with high standards for latency, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Translate business and product objectives into a clear technical strategy and actionable roadmap.
  • Establish team direction and create an environment that promotes trust, autonomy, and strong execution.
  • Develop and mentor engineers while providing clear expectations and timely feedback.
  • Balance technical leadership with effective people management.
  • Use hands-on engineering contributions selectively when they provide significant leverage.
  • Drive alignment across engineering, product, and other cross-functional organizations.

About You

  • 8+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
  • 3+ years of experience managing engineers; experience managing managers is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success leading CDN, proxy, caching, edge, or similar high-throughput and low-latency infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to translate business goals into technical strategies and establish alignment across organizations.
  • Track record of building trust, psychological safety, and clear expectations within engineering teams.
  • Strong ability to provide timely, candid, and constructive feedback.
  • Effective facilitator of technical conflicts who can listen, synthesize perspectives, make decisions, and bring teams along.
  • Strong knowledge of HTTP, TLS, caching strategies, load shedding, capacity planning, observability, and cost optimization.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience working with Go, Lua, or Node.js at the edge.
  • Experience building high-signal engineering hiring pipelines.
  • Experience collaborating with product and product marketing teams on customer-facing narratives.
