Its work focuses on deploying AI in real-world construction environments, where complex operational conditions require practical, reliable, and scalable solutions.

The organization is seeking a Data Scientist to lead high-impact data science initiatives across autonomy, safety, and product development. This role will operate as a senior technical individual contributor, partnering closely with autonomy, machine learning, backend engineering, and product teams to extract meaningful insights from complex real-world data generated by autonomous construction equipment and its operators.

The successful candidate will work across the full data science lifecycle, including problem framing, analysis, measurement, experimentation, and communication. The role will also contribute to establishing foundational data science practices and processes as the organization continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and execute data science initiatives across autonomy, safety, and product, focusing on high-impact analytical challenges.
• Analyze machine telemetry, operational data, and user workflows to identify insights that improve system performance, safety, and usability.
• Define, establish, and track key metrics that measure system behavior and product outcomes.
• Design and evaluate experiments, analytical approaches, and validation methodologies in collaboration with engineering and product teams.
• Partner closely with machine learning platform and data engineering teams to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and suitable for analysis.
• Communicate analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Influence product roadmaps, engineering priorities, and design decisions through data-driven insights.
• Help establish and strengthen data science practices, methodologies, and processes as the organization and future teams scale.
• Operate effectively in ambiguous problem spaces while working closely with production systems and real-world data.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data science, applied analytics, or applied machine learning roles.
• Experience operating as a senior individual contributor within a fast-growing organization, balancing execution with technical judgment and prioritization.
• Ability to work independently, define analytical approaches, and drive projects from initial concept through actionable insights.
• Experience working with complex, high-volume, or real-time datasets, particularly in areas such as robotics, autonomy, geospatial systems, computer vision, IoT, advertising technology, or large-scale consumer platforms.
• Strong foundation in statistics, experimental design, and data analysis, with demonstrated ability to influence decisions through data.
• Hands-on experience collaborating with data engineering and infrastructure teams on data pipelines, data quality, and scalable analytical workflows.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience using modern data science and AI tooling, including agentic AI.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field. An advanced degree is welcome but not required.
