About the Role

The organization is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join its Marketplace team and contribute to the modernization and advancement of a freight marketplace platform.

This role provides an opportunity to work on challenging problems involving predictive modeling, causal inference, constrained optimization, reinforcement learning, and marketplace design. The successful candidate will contribute to machine learning systems that support critical marketplace functions while working in a fast-growing and highly innovative environment.

The role requires end-to-end ownership of machine learning models supporting marketplace functions such as cost prediction, booking probability, and demand elasticity. While the primary focus will be on model development, the engineer will collaborate closely with backend engineering teams to deploy models into production and ensure they operate reliably and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain machine learning models that address complex marketplace and business problems.
• Take end-to-end ownership of machine learning models supporting freight marketplace functions.
• Develop predictive models for areas such as cost prediction, booking probability, and demand elasticity.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate machine learning models into production systems.
• Monitor and evaluate production models to ensure reliability, accuracy, and expected performance.
• Apply advanced machine learning techniques to solve complex marketplace optimization challenges.
• Adapt machine learning models to evolving business requirements and marketplace conditions.
• Contribute to innovative solutions involving predictive modeling, causal inference, constrained optimization, reinforcement learning, and marketplace design.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering and product teams to deliver scalable machine learning solutions.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience developing machine learning models to solve business problems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity with modern artificial intelligence and machine learning frameworks, such as PyTorch.
• Experience developing and applying machine learning models in practical business environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with backend engineers and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous product experience involving machine learning applications.
• Experience adapting machine learning models to specific business and product contexts.
• Previous experience working with state-of-the-art marketplace technologies.
• Experience with causal inference.
• Experience with constrained optimization.
• Knowledge of reinforcement learning and marketplace optimization.
• Experience developing machine learning solutions for complex, large-scale systems.
• Strong understanding of predictive modeling and machine learning system development.
