A leading global technology platform is seeking a Data Scientist II to join its Data Science team. The organization uses data science, experimentation, statistical analysis, and advanced modeling to solve complex business challenges and improve experiences for riders, earners, merchants, and other users worldwide.
The Data Science team transforms large and complex datasets into actionable insights that support critical business and product decisions. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment alongside Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to analyze important product areas, develop monitoring systems, and drive measurable business impact.
The Data Scientist II will independently refine ambiguous business questions, translate requirements into analytical solutions, and work on projects involving multiple dependencies. The role provides an opportunity to develop expertise in risk and fraud analytics while contributing to products and strategies that operate at global scale.
What You’ll Do
- Perform statistical analyses to understand risk and fraud behaviors and contribute to the development of fraud detection features and models.
- Build and maintain fraud rules in response to evolving fraud behaviors.
- Extract insights from large volumes of data to develop strategies for mitigating or preventing fraudulent activities.
- Develop a deep understanding of risk data, reporting, and key performance metrics.
- Conduct experiments to test and optimize the effectiveness of risk mitigation products and solutions.
- Participate in project definition and collaborative initiatives with global stakeholders focused on risk and fraud mitigation.
- Present analytical findings effectively to management to support data-driven business decisions.
- With guidance, define and develop a specific area of technical or analytical expertise.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams.
- Establish monitoring systems and metrics that support product and platform reliability.
- Take ownership of analytical projects from initial problem definition through implementation.
- Remain proactive and adaptable in a fast-paced environment with evolving business requirements.
- Work may be performed remotely where permitted.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected annual rate of pay for this position is $174,304 to $209,164.
The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in a bonus program and may receive other forms of compensation. The position also includes eligibility for various employee benefits.
Basic Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operational Research, Economics, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in the position offered or in a related occupation.
- Experience with R or Python.
- Proficiency with database query languages, particularly SQL.
- Experience with experimentation techniques, including simulation and A/B testing.
- Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, including descriptive statistics, correlation, regression, and confidence intervals.
- Experience developing relevant metrics and KPIs to measure product team performance.
- Experience with quantitative modeling, including machine learning models, time-series forecasting, or causal impact analysis.
- Experience working in risk, fraud, or payments.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with large-scale datasets and translate complex information into actionable business insights.
- Experience developing fraud detection strategies, rules, or analytical models.
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to management and cross-functional stakeholders.
