Key Responsibilities
- Own data architecture from end to end, including how critical business data is captured, modeled, stored, and served in production.
- Make architectural decisions involving storage formats, computing patterns, scalability, consistency, cost, and service-level agreements.
- Develop and operate mission-critical streaming and batch data pipelines processing high-volume events across multiple business domains.
- Process data related to user activity, transactions, experimentation, marketing performance, and operational telemetry while maintaining strong standards for latency, completeness, and accuracy.
- Design and implement canonical, domain-oriented data models that serve as sources of truth for analytics, machine learning, and real-time applications.
- Establish and enforce data modeling standards, ownership boundaries, and data contracts across engineering teams.
- Build data quality systems, including testing, lineage, monitoring, and reconciliation capabilities.
- Improve data observability by ensuring datasets can be monitored effectively and anomalies can be identified and addressed quickly.
- Automate operational workflows and eliminate manual data handoffs across business systems and platform teams.
- Reconcile data across services, data warehouses, and external systems.
- Enable analytics, machine learning, and product engineering teams by providing high-quality, low-latency data through semantic layers, APIs, and real-time query systems.
- Partner with engineering, product, analytics, payments, and finance teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable data solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Software Engineer working with data warehouses, distributed data systems, or event-driven architectures.
- Experience designing and implementing data models using dimensional, Data Vault, or ledger-style modeling techniques.
- Ability to develop data models that support both analytical and transactional workloads.
- Hands-on experience with modern data ingestion technologies such as Kafka and Debezium.
- Experience with data transformation technologies such as dbt, Spark, or Flink.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Dagster or Airflow.
- Experience with data observability and quality platforms such as Monte Carlo or Great Expectations.
- Experience operating cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Knowledge of schema design, cost optimization, and workload performance tuning.
- Strong production-level programming skills in Python or SQL.
- Experience integrating data systems with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code workflows.
- Strong understanding of distributed data systems and event-driven architectures.
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, product, analytics, payments, and finance teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of both technical design and operational outcomes.

Compensation
The stated compensation range of $180,000 – $260,000 represents the base salary range applicable to potentially different levels of the position. Final compensation may vary based on factors including the level of the role, relevant prior experience, skills, and expertise. The stated range covers base salary only and does not include benefits or equity.
