The organization is seeking a Director, Engineering – Agentic Product to lead the technical execution of a highly visible, AI-native product. The role will focus on bringing generative models, creative intelligence, and advanced creative capabilities together into a coherent product experience that meaningfully changes how creators work.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end product quality of the agent, including its capabilities, behaviors, and user experience across multiple surfaces. This is a focused, product-minded engineering leadership role accountable for what the agent does and how effectively it performs rather than the underlying platform or ecosystem packaging.
The Opportunity
The Director of Engineering will lead the engineering execution of the Agentic Product, collaborating with Product leadership to define capabilities, drive output quality, and ensure predictable delivery across multiple product surfaces.
The role will combine technical leadership, product judgment, engineering execution, and team development to deliver innovative agentic experiences for creators at significant scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering execution for the Agentic Product, collaborating with Product leadership to define agent capabilities and ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Grow and lead the engineering organization responsible for developing Agentic Product capabilities.
- Establish technical strategy, promote team health, and drive execution velocity.
- Partner closely with Product Management leadership to define technical scope, sequence delivery, and translate product strategy into actionable engineering plans.
- Lead the design and delivery of agent capabilities across in-app creative workflows, multi-step task execution, and context-aware assistance.
- Establish and maintain a clear quality standard for agent behavior, including defining how quality is measured and continuously improved.
- Partner with platform and infrastructure engineering teams to ensure appropriate evaluations, guardrails, data protection, and reliability.
- Maintain awareness of emerging agentic standards, AI model capabilities, and industry developments.
- Ensure engineering practices continuously evolve alongside advancements in Generative AI and agent technology.
- Drive continuous innovation in engineering processes, tools, and development practices.
What You Must Have
- Proven experience leading and scaling high-performing engineering teams responsible for complex, high-quality user-facing AI products at scale.
- Deep experience in AI/ML product engineering.
- Working knowledge of LLM APIs, agent frameworks, and the capabilities and limitations of current Generative AI models, particularly in creative applications.
- Strong hands-on technical expertise with the ability to engage deeply in architecture decisions and design reviews.
- Ability to evaluate agent behavior at the implementation level and distinguish robust solutions from brittle implementations.
- Strong product sensibility and an understanding of user experience and product quality.
- Ability to partner effectively with Product Management and Design as a peer and strategic collaborator.
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills with experience working closely with Product, Design, platform, and infrastructure engineering teams.
- Comfort operating in fast-moving and ambiguous environments where technology, competition, and user expectations evolve rapidly.
- Experience addressing the quality, reliability, and trust requirements associated with delivering AI features to large consumer and enterprise audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and continuously improve engineering processes and practices.
- Experience helping engineering teams adopt new technologies, tools, and development methodologies while maintaining strong execution.
- Experience working with LLM providers or contributing to AI product strategy is strongly preferred.
