The successful candidate will play an important role in shaping product strategy and driving business decisions through advanced data science and product analytics.
The Opportunity
The organization is seeking a Senior Business Data Scientist who is creative, analytical, and willing to challenge conventional approaches. The role will focus on using data to influence product decisions, improve customer experiences, and drive key business metrics at scale.
The successful candidate will work closely with Product and Growth teams to understand user behavior, identify growth opportunities, develop predictive models, and establish measurement frameworks that support product and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Map the user funnel and develop metrics, cohorts, and dashboards that help Product and Growth teams understand how users move across free, trial, and paid tiers.
- Identify areas where users experience friction or drop off throughout the customer journey.
- Analyze user behavior to determine factors that influence activation, retention, conversion, and expansion.
- Develop propensity models for conversion, upgrades, churn, and expansion.
- Deploy predictive models to support real-time targeting and in-product customer engagement.
- Identify, evaluate, and size growth opportunities in collaboration with Product teams.
- Establish north-star, driver, and guardrail metrics with cross-functional partners.
- Design and analyze multivariate experiments across onboarding experiences, paywalls, in-product prompts, pricing, and other product initiatives.
- Translate complex and ambiguous business questions into structured analyses and actionable recommendations.
- Use data-driven insights to influence product strategy and business decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in data science, product analytics, or a similar quantitative role.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python or R for data manipulation, analysis, and modeling.
- Hands-on experience designing and analyzing A/B tests and interpreting statistical significance.
- Experience developing segmentation and predictive models, including propensity, churn, and lifetime value models.
- Experience deploying predictive models to support product or marketing initiatives.
- Experience building user funnels, cohorts, and retention analyses.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical approaches and clear recommendations.
- Fluency with AI-assisted and agentic workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitatively focused field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in consumer product analytics, particularly within creative tools, SaaS, or subscription-based businesses.
- Experience modeling customer satisfaction and/or Net Promoter Score (NPS).
- Familiarity with modern data platforms and technologies, preferably Databricks and Spark.
- Experience with product analytics platforms such as Adobe Analytics, Amplitude, or FullStory.
- Familiarity with experimentation platforms and modern product analytics methodologies.
