About the Role

The organization is seeking a Staff Applied AI Engineer to own applied AI across the platform, including Dossbot, AI-assisted schema and workflow generation, and agentic automations that transform back-office processes into automated workflows.

The role will serve as the technical anchor for integrating foundation models with a transactional system of record. The successful candidate will build AI capabilities that allow operators to ask questions in natural language and receive answers grounded in live procurement, inventory, and finance data, while also enabling AI agents to safely take action within enterprise guardrails.

What You’ll Do

• Own the applied AI architecture end-to-end, including model selection, orchestration, RAG over the unified operational data model, evaluations, guardrails, and production cost and latency budgets.
• Build Dossbot into the primary interface for operations, enabling natural-language search, analysis, and automation grounded in live supply-chain, finance, and operational data.
• Engineer AI-assisted tooling that uses foundation models to propose, validate, and apply customer schemas and workflow definitions on live production tenants.
• Design agentic workflows that operate within enterprise guardrails, including permission awareness, auditability, tenant isolation, and safe execution against customer systems of record.
• Establish evaluation and observability infrastructure to measure quality, identify regressions, and proactively detect anomalous or risky emergent behavior.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Forward Deployed teams to deliver high-impact AI use cases.
• Mentor engineers and help shape engineering culture as the technical center of gravity for applied AI.
• Raise the standard for how LLM-powered systems are designed, evaluated, deployed, and operated.

What We’re Looking For

Experience

• Experience shipping LLM-powered features or agents to production and operating them at scale rather than limiting work to prototypes or demonstrations.
• Deep hands-on experience with foundation model APIs, RAG pipelines, tool use and function calling, prompt engineering, context engineering, and fine-tuning where appropriate.
• Experience building evaluation frameworks and guardrails for non-deterministic AI systems operating against business-critical data.
• Strong backend engineering fundamentals, including system design, PostgreSQL, and cloud services for reliable, multi-tenant web applications.
• Demonstrated ability to take projects from 0 to 1 in ambiguous environments.
• Strong judgment regarding when AI is the appropriate solution and when conventional approaches are more effective.
