Engineering teams tackle complex technical challenges, take ownership of outcomes, and maintain high standards across architecture, development, and deployment.

The organization is seeking an Engineering Manager, Cloud Infrastructure to lead a highly experienced team of senior engineers responsible for the foundational AWS infrastructure that powers the business. The role’s immediate priority will be driving a high-impact Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) initiative to completion, including multi-region failover and infrastructure-wide resilience.

The successful candidate will balance people leadership with hands-on technical involvement while improving operational practices and strengthening collaboration across engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a senior team of six individual contributors while fostering a culture of ownership, autonomy, and technical excellence.
  • Oversee the execution of a multi-year Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery initiative.
  • Ensure multi-region infrastructure readiness and automated failover capabilities.
  • Maintain and scale core cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes (EKS), RDS, Aurora, PostgreSQL, VPC networking, and AWS service integrations.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to drive adoption of new infrastructure capabilities and support successful migrations.
  • Improve operational practices through effective work tracking, documentation, and incident response processes.
  • Establish and maintain best practices that improve engineering productivity and operational hygiene.
  • Allocate engineering resources effectively to balance critical project delivery with long-term infrastructure stability.
  • Provide technical guidance and architectural leadership on complex cloud infrastructure initiatives.
  • Collaborate across autonomous engineering teams to improve reliability, scalability, and resilience.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of direct management experience leading software or infrastructure engineering teams.
  • 5+ years of experience in software or systems engineering.
  • Deep hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure foundations, particularly AWS, Kubernetes, and PostgreSQL.
  • Proven ability to design and implement complex infrastructure initiatives, including multi-region deployments or disaster recovery frameworks.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence technical decisions across multiple teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex technical issues while maintaining a strategic organizational perspective.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead senior engineering professionals and build a culture of technical excellence.
  • Experience balancing strategic planning, technical execution, resource management, and people leadership.

Work Arrangement

This role is based in San Francisco, California, and follows a hybrid working model. The position requires a minimum of three coordinated days in the office each week, with Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday designated as office days. The organization also provides an opportunity for up to four weeks of fully remote work per year.
