The organization is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the strategic vision and execution for its Core and Ads Serving Platform. This role will oversee the infrastructure responsible for high-scale, low-latency delivery of content and advertisements across the platform’s surfaces.
The successful candidate will define the multi-year architecture and technical direction required to ensure serving systems remain reliable, performant, and cost-efficient while enabling rapid innovation across product and machine learning teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the long-term technical and operational vision for the Core and Ads Serving Platform, aligning infrastructure investments with broader business strategy.
- Lead a high-performing organization of engineers and managers while fostering a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and rapid delivery.
- Partner with senior Product, Machine Learning, and Infrastructure leaders to establish priorities, resolve technical trade-offs, and ensure platform capabilities support strategic business objectives.
- Drive modernization initiatives across the serving stack to improve reliability, latency, and cost efficiency.
- Enable product teams to iterate and deliver new capabilities more rapidly through scalable and dependable platform infrastructure.
- Establish and monitor clear metrics for platform success, including latency, availability, and cost per impression.
- Hold engineering organizations accountable for achieving operational and technical performance targets.
- Leverage AI to accelerate platform analysis, architectural design iteration, system debugging, and documentation synthesis.
- Ensure AI-assisted engineering workflows maintain high standards for accuracy, reliability, and technical quality.
- Translate business objectives into scalable technical strategies and multi-year engineering roadmaps.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience leading or managing large engineering organizations, including setting strategic direction, driving execution, and supporting the professional growth of team members.
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Extensive experience leading engineering organizations responsible for large-scale serving or delivery infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and performance trade-offs.
- Proven ability to translate business goals into technical roadmaps and successfully execute complex, multi-year initiatives.
- Exceptional leadership skills with demonstrated ability to develop engineering leaders and build high-trust, high-accountability environments.
- Strong commitment to inclusivity, collaboration, and organizational development.
- Demonstrated experience using AI- or LLM-powered tools to improve engineering velocity and quality.
- Strong judgment regarding the validation and responsible use of AI-generated outputs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence senior cross-functional stakeholders and clearly communicate complex technical trade-offs to non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
