Within the Ads Delivery team, the role focuses on connecting user aspirations with products and services offered by partners. The Sr. Staff Machine Learning Engineer will help shape the evolution of the platform’s marketplace by developing systems and models that improve advertising delivery, marketplace efficiency, experimentation, and decision-making.

The position provides an opportunity to work on complex marketplace problems involving advertising systems, auction mechanisms, ad allocation, experimentation, and analysis of marketplace dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and improve backend systems and statistical models that support the marketplace and maximize value for users, partners, and the organization.
  • Define and implement experiments designed to understand both short-term and long-term marketplace effects.
  • Develop strategies that balance long-term and short-term business objectives.
  • Design and improve systems supporting the advertising delivery funnel.
  • Contribute to auction mechanism design and ad allocation strategies.
  • Develop analytical approaches to derive new insights from marketplace dynamics.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with engineering peers and business partners across the organization.
  • Help advance organizational knowledge of marketplace design, advertising operations, and optimization.
  • Apply machine learning, statistical modeling, and software engineering techniques to large-scale marketplace challenges.
  • Contribute to the technical vision and evolution of monetization engineering systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics, a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of industry experience.
  • Strong software engineering skills.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
  • Solid knowledge of statistical methods.
  • Experience developing and deploying large-scale machine learning or statistical systems.
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with large-scale online e-commerce or marketplace systems.
  • Background in computational advertising.
  • Experience working with advertising delivery systems, auctions, experimentation, or marketplace optimization.
  • Experience developing statistical models for large-scale online platforms.
  • Strong understanding of marketplace dynamics and optimization strategies.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering and business teams.
