A leading technology and delivery platform company is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Data Engineering to join its Data Engineering team. The team develops scalable database and data infrastructure solutions supporting reporting, product analytics, marketing optimization, financial reporting, and other critical business functions.

Data serves as a foundation for business decision-making, and the organization is focused on building reliable, high-performance systems that enable teams to access accurate and trustworthy information at scale.

The organization is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Data Engineering to serve as a technical leader responsible for architecting and scaling data reliability, data infrastructure, automation, and engineering tools to support growing business requirements.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in data engineering, distributed systems, data platforms, automation, and technical leadership. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can lead complex projects, develop scalable data solutions, and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Own critical data systems that support multiple products and engineering teams.
• Develop, implement, and enforce best practices for data infrastructure and automation.
• Design, develop, and implement large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data models and pipelines for Data Lake and Data Warehouse environments.
• Improve the reliability and scalability of data ingestion, processing, ETL, reporting tools, and data ecosystem services.
• Manage a portfolio of data products that deliver high-quality and trustworthy data.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple data engineering initiatives.
• Help onboard, mentor, and support engineers joining the team.
• Develop solutions that improve the overall reliability, scalability, and efficiency of the organization’s data ecosystem.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to understand business requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
• Contribute to strategic decisions involving data infrastructure, automation, distributed computing, and data platform architecture.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience as a hands-on software engineer and technical leader, including experience leading multiple projects.
• 6+ years of experience working in data platforms, data engineering, or a similar technical role.
• Proficiency in using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor throughout the software development lifecycle, including software design, code generation, testing, monitoring, and release.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Kotlin, or Scala.
• 4+ years of experience with ETL orchestration and workflow management tools such as Airflow.
• Expert knowledge of database fundamentals, SQL, data reliability practices, and distributed computing.
• 4+ years of experience working with distributed data ecosystems such as Spark and Presto.
• Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Flink, or Spark Streaming.
• Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical teams.
• Knowledge of reporting and data visualization tools.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating initiative and strong organizational skills.
• Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to analyze and interpret market and consumer information.
• Ability to work from or near one of the organization’s designated engineering hubs.
