The Agentic AI Engineering team develops intelligent, autonomous systems designed to automate financial operations for organizations worldwide. Their work spans bookkeeping, reconciliation, tax, payroll, forecasting, and document understanding, turning hours of manual effort into seconds through AI-driven solutions.

The organization is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer, Agentic AI Engineering to design and build the foundational systems powering intelligent financial products. The role focuses on developing scalable backend services, resilient APIs, and enterprise-grade infrastructure to support AI-native financial applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build production-grade APIs and backend services in Python using FastAPI and Pydantic to support agentic workflows, AI copilots, and real-time financial systems.
  • Develop resilient infrastructure components, including queues, retries, idempotency mechanisms, observability tools, and backpressure handling capabilities.
  • Work at the intersection of systems engineering and AI by creating feedback loops that continuously improve both product performance and machine learning models.
  • Develop platform foundations such as internal frameworks, SDKs, and engineering tooling that improve productivity across teams.
  • Collaborate closely with machine learning and product teams to bring research-driven ideas into production environments.
  • Help define and architect an AI-native financial technology stack where AI serves as a core runtime component.
  • Contribute to scalable, secure, and highly reliable backend systems that support enterprise customers globally.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience with Python in large-scale environments.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database design principles.
  • Experience building distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or microservices.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform services, including Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, and Key Management Service (KMS).
  • Solid understanding of security, compliance, and enterprise software best practices.
  • Passion for developing backend systems that power intelligent and AI-driven products.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines.
  • Experience operating in fast-paced environments with a focus on ownership and continuous learning.
