A leading technology-driven logistics company is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for its Data Engineering team. The organization relies on high-quality data infrastructure and advanced analytics to support decision-making across product, marketing, and financial operations. The team is responsible for building scalable, reliable data systems that empower teams to make data-driven decisions efficiently.

About the Role
The Staff Software Engineer, Data Engineering, will serve as a technical lead, architecting and scaling data infrastructure, automation, and tools to support growing business needs. This role requires hands-on engineering, strong leadership, and a strategic mindset to ensure reliable, high-performing data systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain critical data systems that support multiple products and teams
  • Design, develop, and implement large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data models and pipelines for Data Lake and Data Warehouse
  • Develop, implement, and enforce best practices for data infrastructure, automation, and workflow management
  • Improve the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of ingestion, data processing, ETLs, reporting tools, and data ecosystem services
  • Manage a portfolio of data products delivering high-quality, trustworthy data
  • Support and onboard new engineers joining the team
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to deliver impactful data solutions

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience as a hands-on engineer and technical leader managing multiple projects
  • 6+ years of experience in data platform or data engineering roles
  • Proficiency in using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) across the full software development lifecycle
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Kotlin, Scala, or similar languages
  • 4+ years of experience in ETL orchestration and workflow management tools such as Airflow
  • Expertise in database fundamentals, SQL, distributed computing, and data reliability practices
  • 4+ years of experience with distributed data ecosystems (Spark, Presto) and streaming technologies (Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Self-starter, comfortable in fast-paced environments, with strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • Must be located near one of the listed engineering hubs
