Summary
The Senior Manager, Engineering will lead and mentor engineering teams while remaining hands-on in the technical work. This role is responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and high-quality digital solutions, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and a seamless user experience for members.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and inspire engineering teams supporting member portals and mobile applications, promoting collaboration, innovation, and accountability
• Develop and execute the technical vision and roadmap for digital platforms
• Drive architectural design, development, and implementation of new features and enhancements, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
• Collaborate with product management, UX/UI design, and business stakeholders to define and deliver the digital roadmap
• Oversee the software development lifecycle, utilizing agile methodologies from design to deployment and maintenance
• Ensure operational excellence, including incident management, monitoring improvements, and platform performance
• Manage budgets, resources, and timelines to deliver projects on time and within scope
• Stay informed on emerging technologies and champion their adoption to enhance digital platforms
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices, including code reviews, security standards, and QA automation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a management or leadership role while remaining actively technical
• Hands-on experience with mobile and web application development (Angular, React Native, REST API with Apigee and SpringBoot)
• Experience with Agile methodologies, DevSecOps, deployment, and secure infrastructure management
• Familiarity with public and private cloud environments, preferably AWS, and PaaS solutions
• Experience collaborating with technology vendors and research providers
• Excellent analytical skills, process documentation, and methodology development
• Proven ability to build relationships across technical and business teams
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and influence skills
• Technical expertise in:
  • Mobile Development: Android Native, iOS Native
  • Web Technologies: CMS (Drupal), Content Delivery Networks (Akamai, F5)
  • API and Security: Gateway security (F5)
  • DevOps and Cloud: Confluent Kafka
  • Databases: Relational, Object-Oriented, NoSQL, InMemory
  • Performance and Monitoring: Load testing tools (LoadRunner, JMeter, Gatling), Observability tools (Splunk Observability, New Relic), AWS monitoring (CloudWatch, Performance Insights), debugging tools (Splunk, LogRocket), BrowserStack
• Strong business acumen and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
