A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join its Medical Economics team. The organization leverages advanced analytics and large-scale healthcare data to drive strategic decision-making, improve patient outcomes, and reduce costs. The team works across multiple functions including underwriting, product development, provider contracting, finance, and sales to deliver insights that shape business strategy and operational efficiency.

Summary
The Senior Data Scientist will analyze large and complex healthcare datasets, design predictive models, and deliver actionable insights that influence financial, product, and operational strategies. This role requires both technical expertise and strong collaboration skills to ensure analytics align with business priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze large, complex datasets from enterprise data warehouses to identify drivers of healthcare costs, market pressures, and profitability
  • Design and implement advanced statistical models and predictive analytics to inform financial projections and evaluate cost/benefit of initiatives
  • Create clear, compelling visualizations and communicate actionable recommendations that improve member outcomes and reduce healthcare costs
  • Lead cross-functional analytic projects from design through implementation, ensuring consistent representation of financial performance
  • Partner closely with teams including Underwriting, Product Development, Provider Contracting, Sales, and Finance to align analytics with business strategy
  • Translate complex analyses into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Healthcare Analytics, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 5–7+ years of experience in data science, healthcare analytics, or a related field
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or R for data extraction, manipulation, and modeling
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI); familiarity with SAS is a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills
  • Excellent communication skills for distilling complex analyses into actionable insights
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Collaborative mindset and adaptability to shifting business priorities
  • Passion for using data to improve healthcare quality and affordability
  • Creative, solution-oriented approach to complex business problems
  • Ability to influence decision-making through insights and strong stakeholder partnerships
