A leading healthcare analytics organization seeks a Senior Data Scientist to transform healthcare operations through advanced data science and analytics solutions. Summary
The Senior Data Scientist will lead high-value workstreams within the Actuarial and Analytics Solutions (AAS) department, guiding projects through all phases—from ideation and design to build and deployment. The role involves advanced modeling and analytics to support healthcare operations and finance, as well as mentoring junior data scientists and analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research, design, and implementation of data science solutions to meet current and future business needs
  • Anticipate and provide strategies for complex data problems or trends
  • Evaluate and design innovative approaches and methodologies to improve efficiency and solve business challenges
  • Utilize statistical techniques to conduct advanced measurements on messy or noisy data
  • Synthesize internal and external data to produce meaningful observations and actionable recommendations
  • Design, build, and launch new predictive models and data pipelines
  • Manage delivery of impactful dashboards and data visualizations
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging trends and technologies, collaborating with management to incorporate new developments
  • Coordinate with departmental leaders to ensure consistency in data trends, especially across medical economics, pricing, financial planning, and informatics
  • Effectively communicate customized analysis and financial impact to senior leadership

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of healthcare delivery systems, health plan operations, medical economics, trend management, pricing, forecasting, and provider payment methodologies
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms, statistical techniques, data interpretation, and predictive model deployment
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a matrix environment
  • Creative problem-solving skills with strategic thinking and execution capability
  • Proficiency with data analysis and modeling software: Python, SQL, Tableau, R, SAS, etc.
  • Familiarity with modern data and analytics technologies on cloud platforms (Snowflake preferred)
  • Experience working in Agile environments and partnering closely with IT
  • Minimum five years of healthcare experience in analysis, design, development, and delivery of data solutions; direct experience with claims data is a major plus
  • BA/BS required; MS, MPH, or PhD in a relevant field may substitute for work experience
