Job Description
About the Role
The Director of Data Products & Engineering is a strategic and visionary leader responsible for defining and executing the enterprise’s data product and engineering strategy. This role manages the entire data lifecycle—including architecture, engineering, operations, and governance—while collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure data assets are scalable, secure, and aligned with strategic business goals.

Your Day to Day
• Develop and execute a unified vision for data products and engineering aligned with strategic priorities.
• Lead creation of scalable, cloud-native data products supporting real-time processing, analytics, machine learning, AI, and self-service data consumption.
• Champion a forward-looking enterprise data strategy and foster a data-driven culture.
• Build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams of data product managers and engineers.
• Establish a robust data governance framework ensuring data quality, security, privacy, and compliance.

We’re Looking For

Product & Strategy Leadership
• Define and manage the product and technical roadmap for all data assets, integrations, and services from conception to launch.
• Collaborate with executives and cross-functional teams to identify high-impact business problems solvable with data solutions.
• Translate business needs into data usage plans, dependencies, and measurable outcomes.
• Define and track success metrics for adoption and business impact of data products.

Data Engineering & Operations
• Lead global teams in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage.
• Oversee end-to-end delivery of data assets using DevSecOps, quality engineering, release management, and change management practices.
• Partner with architecture teams to evaluate and deploy emerging technologies in data, analytics, and AI.
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, reliability, and observability across systems.
• Promote a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, and team development.

Leadership & Team Management
• Recruit, develop, and retain top talent across multi-level teams in data engineering and product management.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and career development, fostering an inclusive, high-performance environment.
• Manage team resources, project priorities, and operational budgets to ensure timely delivery of initiatives.
• Oversee software and vendor management for enterprise-wide data and analytics capabilities.

What You Bring
• 12+ years in data engineering, data architecture, or related fields, including 5+ years in senior leadership roles.
• Experience with EDW, operational data stores, NoSQL databases, ETL/ELT, and caching.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field.
• Proven success in scaling data teams in complex, multi-product organizations.
• Expertise in modern data stack technologies (Snowflake, Databricks, Kafka, dbt, Airflow) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Strong experience applying product management principles to data, including roadmap development and stakeholder management.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and executive influencing skills.

Minimum Education Requirements
High school degree or equivalent required unless otherwise noted above.
