Job Description Role Overview:
As a Lead Engineer (Data Lifecycle Management), you will take a hands-on role in designing, building, and operating data platform capabilities that govern how data is created, classified, shared, retained, archived, and deleted. You will lead delivery of lifecycle controls including metadata capture and lineage, data classification and policy enforcement, retention/legal hold workflows, and audit-ready reporting. Your expertise will translate governance, privacy, and regulatory requirements into scalable engineering patterns and automation, improving data trust, reducing operational risk, and enabling compliant reuse of data products. You will mentor and lead teams, collaborating with governance, security, privacy, legal, and platform teams to deliver reliable lifecycle solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Drive outcome-driven accountability, developing engineering solutions that solve complex problems while ensuring high-quality, lean designs.
• Serve as technical advocate for products, ensuring code integrity, feasibility, and alignment with business goals. Lead requirement analysis, architecture, component design, development, unit testing, integrations, and support.
• Maintain engineering craftsmanship, ensuring code quality, scalability, and maintainability. Mentor engineers and review code to meet quality KPIs.
• Deliver customer-centric solutions through rapid experimentation and engagement with product teams and customers.
• Adopt incremental and iterative delivery, leveraging lean approaches to navigate complexity and uncertainty.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, experience, and delivery teams, integrating diverse perspectives to optimize feasibility, usability, and value.
• Demonstrate advanced technical proficiency in modern software engineering, Agile, DevSecOps, and full automation deployment pipelines.
• Acquire domain expertise quickly and translate business needs, architectures, and UX/UI designs into technical solutions.
• Exhibit effective communication and influence, articulating complex technical concepts and aligning solutions with business objectives.
• Engage in collaborative co-creation with product engineering teams, building constructive relationships and fostering consensus-driven solutions.
Key Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of experience with Python, SQL/NoSQL, and cloud-native engineering, particularly Azure Data Pipelines and portal environments.
• 8+ years delivering governed data platforms.
• 2+ years experience with AI/ML and GenAI technologies.
• Strong understanding of methodologies and tools including XP, Lean, SAFe, DevSecOps, SRE, ADO, GitHub, SonarQube.
• Deep expertise in at least one modern data platform with governance controls (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse).
• Experience implementing data governance and lifecycle management controls across Microsoft 365 applications including Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and CoPilot.
