Job Title: AVP, Data Scientist, AI Labs, Innovation Group
Job Description
The Innovation Group (IG) is the centralized innovation, data, and science function within UOB Group, supporting business units with analytical and innovation-driven needs. IG drives rapid adoption of analytics and innovation across the Group.
AI Labs focuses on the research and development of high-strategic-value products and capabilities with enterprise-level coverage, prioritizing product monetization and capability performance for successful project delivery.
As a core member of AI Labs, you will contribute to building highly impactful and innovative solutions addressing real-world challenges. Current focus areas include Voice-to-Text, LLM-based Analytics, GenAI Agents, Portfolio Management, and Forecasting.
Job Responsibilities
• Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, technology, and business/support units to evaluate, design, and deliver business-driven products and capabilities.
• Develop and execute products and plans aligned with strategic projects and business objectives.
• Build strategic, high-performing AI capabilities through research, experimentation, and agile prototyping.
• Stay updated on emerging AI SOTA technologies, best practices, software, and architectural paradigms.
• Manage stakeholder interactions and expectations effectively.
• Provide deep expertise and advisory on data science to diverse stakeholders.
Job Requirements
• Postgraduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; AI-related thesis/publications preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of advanced data science experience in research, engineering, banking, financial services, quantitative analysis, or consulting.
• Demonstrated ability to develop data-driven solutions for complex business or academic problems.
• Minimum 1.5 years of full-time experience in end-to-end AI capabilities or product research and development, with demonstrable achievements.
• Strong expertise in Deep Learning is required; experience in Reinforcement Learning, Causal Inferencing, Probabilistic Bayesian methods, advanced Econometric Modelling preferred.
• Experience in GenAI topics, such as LLMs and Multimodal LM, preferred.
• Proficiency in Python programming, handling large datasets, and common data science packages (e.g., PyTorch).
• Skilled in end-to-end data science solution delivery and familiar with agile project management practices.
• Ability to clearly communicate analytic findings to business stakeholders.
• Experience with data visualization tools/packages is a plus.
• Self-motivated, innovative, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
