Job Description
As a Senior Data Scientist within the Smart Manufacturing AI (SMAI) Global Operations Intelligence team, this role focuses on scheduling and simulation initiatives that drive advanced manufacturing performance. The position is part of a world-class smart manufacturing team responsible for designing and implementing advanced scheduling, optimization, and simulation solutions across global manufacturing operations. The role partners closely with cross-functional departments and international manufacturing sites to deliver intelligent, autonomous, and scalable manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
• Design and develop smart manufacturing and AI solutions in advanced factory scheduling, optimization, and simulation.
• Build high-quality data analytics and applications that deliver actionable insights to management and manufacturing teams.
• Explore and apply new ideas, concepts, and technologies to enable breakthrough operational intelligence solutions.
• Collaborate with global manufacturing sites to identify opportunities and deliver holistic, scalable solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement in production metrics through data-driven insights.
• Support global alignment and benchmarking of scheduling and simulation solutions.
Requirements
• Strong drive to make an impact with a passion for innovation and emerging technologies.
• Highly motivated, proactive, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse global teams.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Science, or other quantitative disciplines with a strong focus on optimization, simulation, or algorithmic problem-solving.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in factory scheduling, optimization modeling, or simulation within manufacturing or operations environments.
• Knowledge and experience in optimization techniques such as linear programming, mixed-integer programming, and meta-heuristics; experience with tools such as CPLEX or Gurobi strongly preferred.
• Experience with discrete event simulation and reinforcement learning preferred.
• Direct experience in factory scheduling preferred.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
