Principal Data Engineer
A prominent technology firm is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in data platform architecture, end-to-end data/AI solution deployment, and technical project management.
Responsibilities:
Lead technical project initiatives, adopting a customer-centric approach to understand pain points and identify key problems for resolution.
Design and implement robust data platform architectures and data models.
Deploy comprehensive end-to-end data and AI solutions.
Develop and maintain efficient ETL processes using Python scripting.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in employing the most appropriate tools for various problems, including the ability to quickly learn new technologies.
Utilize data pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow or Prefect to manage and automate data workflows.
Perform in-depth data analysis and create compelling visualizations using commercial BI tools like Tableau or Power BI, as well as open-source libraries such as Matplotlib and Seaborn.
Manage and administer RDBMS solutions including Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and Postgres.
Administer Windows and Linux systems, both baremetal and virtual machines.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in technical project management with a focus on customer-centric solutioning.
Extensive experience in data platform architecture design, data modeling, and deploying end-to-end data/AI solutions.
Proficiency in Python scripting for ETL and other data engineering tasks.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to new tools and technologies as needed.
Expertise in data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect).
Strong analytical and data visualization skills, proficient with both commercial BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and open-source libraries (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn).
Proficiency in system administration of RDBMS solutions (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres).
Experience with system administration of Windows and Linux systems (baremetal & VM).
Experience with deploying solutions on AWS/Azure cloud platforms is a significant advantage.
