Lead, Data Centre Operations – Singapore

Responsibilities

  • Strategy: Provide leadership, direction, and continuous improvement for all aspects of Data Centre Operations for the sites responsible. Ensure business requirements are met efficiently and in a timely fashion, while maintaining compliance with best practices for Data Centre operations, standards, policies, strategy, risk, and principles.
  • Processes: Identify process breakdowns across organizational workflows and implement solutions to improve effectiveness and continuously enhance processes. Work with regional security teams to implement physical security, media disposal, and Pipeline, Procurement, and provisioning processes. Identify process areas for automation to achieve cost savings and increase process efficiency across the function. Drive capacity management and review site utilization with a focus on sustainability.
  • People & Talent: Set up and coach staff to prepare for the future with clear directions, monitor job descriptions, and objectives. Identify and invest in talent to ensure critical functions are skilled and qualified to perform their roles. Lead by example to build an operational culture bound by values within and across the wider organization. Drive efficiency and provide continuous feedback to ensure rewards are in line with performance.
  • Risk Management: Manage risk and control requirements covering internal and external audit engagements. Govern and oversee regulatory inspections across the responsible estate. Take measures with a focus on risk avoidance and channel risk remediation timely. Act promptly on known risk and control weaknesses that surface. Demonstrate understanding of the Operational Risk Framework and awareness to implement procedural changes.
  • Governance: Manage and strive to maintain the Control Design Effectiveness (CDE) and Control Operating Effectiveness (COE) of risk controls across the Data Centre sites with discipline. Maintain a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspects of data centre operations. Enable local country managers for risk awareness and strong mitigation plans to minimize/eliminate risks.
  • Regulatory & Business Conduct: Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct. Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct, and compliance matters. Lead to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles.
  • Key Stakeholders: Head of Platform, Networks and Storage Services, Head of Property, Head of Security, Country Technology Management, Data Centre Colocation vendors, Group Internal Audit.

Our Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess 15+ years of experience in managing large-scale Data Centre facilities and operations, including experience with co-location and proximity services. A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Proficiency in Data Centre infrastructure, encompassing electrical and mechanical systems, cooling, and power distribution, is essential. The ability to develop and implement Data Centre strategies that drive efficiency, performance, and sustainability is also crucial. A solid understanding of pertinent Health and Safety regulations and best practices is crucial in fostering a ‘safety first’ culture within Data Centre operations. Certifications such as CDCMP, CDCP, or PMP are a plus. Training in Data Center Design, Management, and Professional and/or related domain is highly desirable. Experience in Nlyte (DCIM – Data Centre Infrastructure Management tool) is preferred. Familiarity with Data Centre industry best practices, standards, and regulations, such as ISO, TIA, and Uptime Institute, is mandatory.
