Tech Lead Manager, Data Platform
What you will be doing:
This company is seeking an innovative Tech Lead Manager to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical team and all projects they undertake. Your responsibilities will include analyzing project briefs, writing progress reports, identifying potential risks, and developing comprehensive work schedules. You will be expected to work collaboratively with your team, inspiring them to achieve their goals.
You will lead a team and directly contribute to the development of the database engine, focusing on areas such as storage, query execution, metadata management, resource management, and performance optimization. This position offers a significant opportunity to solve challenging problems and foster professional growth.
Key responsibilities include:
Serving as both a highly technical, hands-on coder and an effective people manager.
Effectively scaling the engineering team by attracting and mentoring exceptional individuals at various experience levels to cultivate a high-performing and diverse team.
Collaborating with the product team to define the product vision and oversee the engineering roadmap.
Determining project requirements and developing work schedules for the team.
Delegating tasks and ensuring the achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
Identifying risks and promptly formulating contingency plans.
Contributing to the database engine by leading technical design, implementation, and verification.
Ensuring code quality, extensibility, and sustainability within the module/project.
Staying current with industry trends and developments.
What you should have:
Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
At least 10 years of relevant software engineering experience, with 5 years in team management.
Expertise in Linux operating system principles, networking, and multi-threading.
Expert-level software development skills in modern C++.
Expertise in working on one or more of the following technologies is a plus: ClickHouse, Apache Impala, Prestodb, Trino, Apache Doris, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Greenplum.
Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
Excellent communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills.
Contributor/Committer or PMC of an open-source community is a plus.
