Job Title: Senior Data Engineer

Job Description

A thriving organization is seeking a talented Senior Data Engineer to join their team. This individual will take ownership of the technical platform supporting advanced analytics initiatives, encompassing both data science and data engineering efforts. They will be responsible for designing and constructing robust, modular, scalable, deployable, reproducible, and versioned data pipelines specifically for machine learning applications.

The Senior Data Engineer will create and manage data environments while ensuring adherence to stringent information security standards. They will be accountable for the successful delivery of technical work streams and will play a crucial role in mentoring and guiding junior team members.

This role requires the application of knowledge regarding clients’ data landscapes to assess data quality effectively. The Senior Data Engineer will collaboratively design and build GenAI applications, such as RAG and Agentic AI, in partnership with data scientists.

There will be opportunities to contribute to Research & Development projects and the development of internal assets. Furthermore, the Senior Data Engineer will participate in cross-functional problem-solving sessions with the team and clients, ranging from data owners and users to C-level executives, to understand their needs and develop impactful analytics solutions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Proficiency in writing clean, maintainable, scalable, and robust code in an object-oriented language (e.g., Python, Scala, Java) within a professional context.
  • Demonstrated experience in building data pipelines in production for advanced analytics use cases.
  • Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Practical understanding of software engineering concepts and best practices.
  • Ability to scope projects, define workstreams, and effectively lead and mentor more junior colleagues.
  • Familiarity with distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Dask), cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization, and analytics libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, matplotlib).
  • Commercial client-facing or senior stakeholder management experience.
